About Isaias:

My name is Isaias Mendez. My family is originally from Puerto Rico, although I was born in the US. My lifelong love of teaching led me to pursue a career in education that has spanned 32 years. First as an ESL teacher, then as a school counselor after graduating from Emporia State University. I recently became licensed as a professional counselor, which is the pathway I intend to follow for many years to come.

My focus is on helping people in different areas of their lives. Some of my strategies include multicultural counseling, adapting to new cultures, personal growth, career counseling, developing everyday coping skills, addressing stress, depression, and trauma-informed care, as well as promoting social and emotional well-being. I have a great interest in grief counseling and spiritual counseling (not necessarily religious).

I believe in an active lifestyle, where taking care of the body allows it to take care of the mind, and vice versa. I especially love spending time with my grandson.
